Monday of the 25th Week in Ordinary Time

Lk 8:16-18

No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lamp-stand, so that those who enter may see the light” (Lk 8:16). Through this short Parable of the Lamp, Jesus inspires us to proclaim what we believe by words and actions. We need to let our good works shine not to be praised but to provide examples for others to emulate.

Jesus is the great light sent by the Heavenly Father to brighten the world. Through his person and his life of service, people are given an example of a meaningful life – one that is lived for God and for others.

The challenge for us now is to follow Jesus' life of compassionate service. We have to imagine ourselves as servant of all, especially of the poor and the less fortunate. By doing so, we provide good modeling to our children, friends and to other people.
